I Trust You With My Heart

Into Your hand I commit my spirit;

You have redeemed me,

O Lord God of truth…

You have considered my trouble;

You have known my soul in adversities.

Psalm 31:5;7

God’s hand is a safe place for us to be. Even though today might be filled with dread or fear for you from all manner of outside sources. You don’t face any of them alone. When we are in trying seasons of life we will be tempted to look out at the problems we are facing or to focus on the emotions we’re feeling. This will always cause us to become overwhelmed. To be taken under.

But Jesus invites you and me to turn and look at Him. He is in the storms of life with you, and He doesn’t need to deliver you from the storm to be in control. He is the God of the storm the Father of light and darkness. And although we can’t always see what He is doing, if we would stop striving so hard for just a moment, then we would be able to hear Him calling, “Child, I’ve got you. I am here to help. I am enough”.

Sometimes, it’s our struggling that causes our biggest problems. I believe that if we would stop in the storm and call to remembrance the One who is holding us, and the past victories He brought about in our lives we would regain the strength to continue on. The victory is ours, we are already redeemed. You and I can trust God with our hearts.

Habakkuk 3: 17-19; Even though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, though the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the God of my salvation! The Lord is my strength. My personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk (not to stand still in terror, but to walk) and to make (spiritual) progress upon my high places of trouble, suffering, or responsibility!

There is no scenario where we are alone and without help. God is faithful, He is good, and He is all you need. Stop believing that what you’re facing shouldn’t be happening. Whatever you are going through is beside the point because your God is enough. You have the opportunity to grow and mature in this time of your life. Being without gives you room to be filled. You are in a position to receive the best of God.

Praise Him, regardless of your feelings. Praise Him, let words of thankfulness fall from your lips. See your strength return and your perspective change. See the goodness of God pour out into your heart, and open your eyes to His plans and purposes for you within this storm.

The Lord knows us personally and considers, or “thinks” about us, and knows our souls as we travel through everything life throws at us. We know God is good. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ you know this. Our struggle is to stand on that truth when we face difficulties. The verses above are truth…

The storm is not stronger than you because your God is the God of the storm. You are not ill-equipped because the Lord is your strength and your personal bravery! Personal, everything about God regarding you is personal, you are not generic, a number, or one in many. You are known, you were designed with intention, you were set apart for a relationship with the Father. You are loved, chosen, and protected. These are not just nice/encouraging things to say. They are truth, biblical truth, these words are alive and powerful!

Take heart. Press on.
