FAQ

Why should I choose you to create my commissioned art piece?

It’s true, there are so many talented artists out in the world today. I am honored to simply be considered. All I can say is that when I am sitting down to come up with an idea for a customer or to bring life to their idea, I am immersed in the heart of the behind- the-scene beginning purpose for the piece. I take creating art for my customers seriously and use it as a way to connect with your needs and heart with my paintbrush; to bring to life a moment, memory, season of grief, or joy for you.

I have a potential guest for your show, what should I do?

Yay! I love new and intriguing guests. Email me and let me know who, why, and where I can get in contact with them. The more info the better.

Why is a commissioned piece more expensive than a print?

Many factors go into this. For instance, time is a big component, as well as emotional commitment. When I agree to take on commissioned work, I am committing to give you an experience through that particular piece. In order to do that, as an artist, I enter into your emotional needs. You reached out to have a piece made for you to hold onto a particular memory, sensory experience, feeling, or deep passion. My job is to bring that to reality through the piece of art I create for you. This is much different from you purchasing a mass produced piece of art, that may be beautiful and even meaningful, but it is not being purchased or made to create a personal experience.

Where did you get your particular vision for creating art pieces?

The truth is, I do my best work when I am suffering from periods of deep depression or sorrow. The dark times in my life have brought about my most intense and breathtaking art pieces, as well as writings and insights.

What types of events do you do?

All different kinds! From weekend retreats, women’s brunches, youth events, prison ministry, keynote speaking, to breakout sessions, and really anything in between. I am quite flexible and offer some unique options too, such as taco and canvas nights or an immersive painting fellowship.

Do you do free events?

Each event will be prayerfully evaluated on my end. I am open to hearing all about your specific needs and budget. I periodically do free events that I feel are in line with the will of God for this ministry.

I am interested in an art print but still unsure about it. Can we chat before I commit?

Yes. Choosing anyone to create a special piece is a big deal and I will do my best to make you feel comfortable, answering any questions, or sending you my portfolio. Ultimately, though, you are in the driver's seat. You will determine if you feel like we would be a good fit.

Can I buy an art print?

Yes. I’d love to make one for you. You can either request a print that is currently on my website, or choose to commission an original work to fit your exact needs. Simply go to the “Contact Me” tab, click on the drop down menu, choose to buy a print, or commission an original piece.

Do you create event outlines?

Yes. If you are hosting an event and simply don’t know what to do regarding theme planning, breakout sessions, special events etc., I am absolutely able to help, assist, take the reins and the pressure off you completely! You will receive a copy of plans ahead of time to look over and make any necessary changes or adjustments.

What makes your pieces special?

I would say the real experience that fuels my work. My pieces and what is important to me as I create paintings comes from an experiential knowledge. Time and testing have given me a honed grasp of what is most important to me to portray through art. Every piece I paint goes through a thoughtful process. To me, art is not just a hobby or even simply something beautiful being created, it is a piece of myself being brought to life through the gift of art.

I have topics I’d like to hear on your podcast, where can I share them?

I love to know the thoughts of my listeners. Email me any topics you want to have addressed, thoughts, prayer requests, etc. I read every email and love feedback.

How did you pick your medium?

Good question. I began with acrylic and then messed around with some others, pastels, chalk… but, I just always fell hard for the inconsistency of watercolors. The way it’s chaotic but beautiful. Wild, but can be controlled through careful discipline. It never produces the same result, it's ever changing, and its possibilities seem boundless. Calligraphy was just so beautiful. When I lost my precious son, Jeremiah, I knew I wanted to add it to my art to convey the internal emotions and truth that lies beneath the surface of my heart.

Why do you ask for comments and reviews?

Good question. The easy answer is search engines, like Google, helps entrepreneurs, like myself, get found easier. But, I think we all know there are more vulnerable reasons too. We all need encouragement. To know that our work is seen and is valuable. Yes, it’s true that your worth is only found in what Jesus says about us, but, nonetheless, we all need to be encouraged and told we are doing well:)

What if I am not happy with the finished commissioned work?

That is why our meeting beforehand is so important. You and I must be compatible in order for your end result to be a positive one. When you feel assured that I am the right person for your piece then you will trust my thoughts and processes. I, in turn, will feel artistically free to create for you a piece from my heart to bring to reality your specific needs.

How much is your speaking charge?

There are too many factors that differ from event to event for me to give a general answer. I would suggest the best course of action would be to reach out and set up a free phone consultation to discuss your needs. From there, we will both have a better idea of what is needed and what would be required regarding financial compensation.

How can I inquire about your speaking availability?

Under the tab, “Speakers Page”, you will find a “Contact Me” button. After clicking on that, a drop-down menu will appear. From there you can choose the option that best fits your needs, or simply email me at ……..

What is your return policy?

If anything happens to your piece that affects the quality of it, such as damage or getting lost in the mail, I will replace it with no questions asked. If the customer is not happy with a print job due to visible error, I will reprint. However, I do not refund commissioned pieces. I am happy to accommodate a redo if the customer is completely dissatisfied, but generally, due to the time, thought, and effort, these are not refunded or returnable.

How can I get a copy of your speaker page?

Simply request it through email. I’m happy to share it.

What denomination are you?

Good question! I am an evangelical Christian. I currently attend (not yet a member) a Southern Baptist Church here in Manhattan Kansas. If you would like to know more regarding my beliefs on other issues not listed, please shoot me an email. I am happy to answer any questions.

Do you do “non-Christian” events?

I am absolutely open to more secular events. As long as the event coordinator is aware that I am a Christ-follower and agrees that whatever my part is within that particular event, I won’t shy away from my beliefs. I am able to tailor my talks to fit into different types of settings and audiences as well. So my message doesn’t change, but the way it is delivered can. This is ministry: the ability to share the love of Christ in a way that can be heard and received by those present. This has nothing to do with changing truth, only tailoring the way that truth is presented to best fit the needs of the audience.
